Open House Rome 2021, Battito Urbano [Urban Beat], coincides with the attempt by human being to reappropriate of the urban spaces during the post-pandemic recovery (third) phase from Covid19. In this passage, from individual isolation to social sharing, the city tries to restart. A delicate moment that corresponds to a normal exercise. 1, 2. A beat. Before and after. Contraction and expansion.
The identity system of Open House Roma 2021 is designed starting from temporality 1, 2 applied to a sequence of banal but strongly ritual gestures, characteristics of the urban context and every day life, in normal times. The subjects of the graphic design are always made up of two adjacent pictograms which together, identifying a simple action, build a narrative system of signs. A window that was first opened and then closed, the click of a camera, a used ticket; all of these actions represent the re-living the city. If a sign expresses a concept, two signs express an action. The ad hoc typography of the titles represents architecture, the urban textile that contracts (light) and expands (bold), once again a signal of this recovery.
